The Center has developed a new experimental apparatus for the convective drying of polymer films, in which the temperature, flow rate and composition of the gas stream can be controlled. A sample being dried in an air flow chamber is resting on an electronic balance recording weight versus time. Results for the drying of PVAC-toluene agree fairly well with predictions of our drying model, although sources of disagreement need to be further investigated.
