Study of Bubble Formation Using Fiber Optics
Jon C. Dougherty

In many processes where contact is made between a thin rubbery polymer film and a substrate, nucleation sites will exist. Any mechanism that leads to pressure build-up in these nucleation sites will cause bubbles. Efforts are being made to capture the formation of bubbles in poly vinylbutyral (PVB) on glass. A fiber optic camera has been purchased and incorporated into an apparatus to film this event.
