Epoxy Sorption Studies
Marc Russell

This preliminary study involved measuring the diffusivity and solubility of acetone in a commercial epoxy resin. In order to model the formation of epoxy coatings in a drying oven one must have these data as well as information on the curing kinetics. Gravimetric sorption experiments were carried out on two different epoxy samples: pregel, which is partially cured, and postgel, which is fully cured. The pregel showed roughly the same diffusivity as the postgel, but at a much lower temperature. More sorption experiments are needed to fully investigate these properties.
